Why bring music to your school?
Music plays a magical role in any school of bringing pupils and teachers together in a manner that everyone can enjoy. Music raises the confidence of pupils as they see their peers stand up in front of a class or an assembly and perform. Music lessons help nurture patience, determination, problem solving and also at a higher level develop an artistic outlet.
Founded by Joel Goodman & Jan Osborne, Visiting Music Teachers is run by two passionate music teachers with over 25 years of experience between them.
About Us
Joel Goodman
Joel Goodman has been working as a musical teacher since 2008. He has over 15 years of experience teaching musicians of all ages and abilities. He qualified as a primary school teacher in 2012 which has provided him with an amazing foundation of working with young musicians. Joel founded Epping Music School in 2021 which has a team of over 10 music teachers and over 100 pupils per week visit for regular lessons. Joel has also enjoyed a successful career as a musical theatre composer with his production of Alan Turing - A Musical Biography.
Joel has co-founded Visiting Music Teachers with Jan Osborne to provide school pupils with the opportunity to receive music lessons at school. Joel believes passionately, that a vibrant music department and regular music offering will benefit any school.
Jan Antrobus
Jan Antrobus has been teaching 1-2-1 and group music lessons for over 12 years. Within that time she has helped countless pupils achieve grade 8 standard across various instruments. Jan has always put a strong emphasis on enjoyment within lessons by introducing humour and educational games to keep pupils enthused throughout their musical educational journey.
Jan co-founded Epping Music School and then founded Visiting Music Teachers to build upon her own work as a music teacher. Jan would like to share her unique approach to teaching music with teachers and pupils to encourage the learning of this unique curriculum subject.

Concerts
A chance to hear other pupils play
Music concerts are one of our favourite regular events. Concerts give pupils the chance to hear their friends and other musicians of their own age playing music. For parents the concerts are an opportunity to celebrate your child's hard work. Many a proud tear has been shed at the concerts we put on for all of our musicians.
Alumni
Over the years that Joel and Jan have been providing music lessons their pupils have gone on to achieve great things. We look forward to expanding the reach of our lessons and hope to be a part of many more young musicians going on to fulfil their potential.
